Description

A Revenant who resembled a cross fox. They were on the slightly small side, at 158cm. Their soul colour was a bright cyan (subject to change...). Their skeleton model was one of the older types, with a singular middle horn.

Their team was destroyed in an accident due to insufficient preparation, and while their teammates and parts of them were found, most of the rest of their structure was not. Still, even if they had survived the attack, they would not have survived long outside, and has hence been recorded as lost (i.e. presumed dead).

(Note: Their age as listed on this article is at the point where they were recorded as lost.)

Personality

Very even-tempered (not excitable), eager to help with menial tasks, with a lot of curiosity - the type who wouldn't make bosom best buddies (not until they radicalised), but had a lot of casual acquaintances and people tended to treat them kindly like a younger sibling. They liked people, and got lonely. In the early part of their Rev career, they were not very assertive or forceful in any way, preferring to sit out of trouble and/or "see both sides". Was generally seen as a friendly person, if a bootlicker up until a certain point.

Post-second death, actively puts distance between themselves and new people - it's an unnatural state for them and makes them sad, but there's nowhere else in this world that they belong except the world of the truly dead, and nothing in the world of the truly dead is kind to them.

Has a lot of repressed desires, which manifests as a fear of death. They don't want to die, because their existence is the only thing they can indulge in, despite it being a not very excellent one.

History

In Life

  • This is not extremely relevant so I will probably write it later

As a Revenant

  • Died aged 24. Clung to the world because of fear of death - their Rev contract is, very simply, being allowed to exist indefinitely, which is an extremely, massively unfair one as it's the default terms for Revs.
  • In life and at the start of their Rev career, was pretty much a coward - unwilling to cause waves, the "sit on the fence" type, accepted the noble duty of Revs as the underdogs and secret protectors of the city, or at least even if they heard dissent about the system, rationalised that it was still better than nothing
  • Got radicalised along with some friends when they somehow found out about the truth - for once Reon felt like they believed in something and was correct, around here their sense of self started to come together
  • They tried to peacefully discuss solutions with the bosses but found their opinions were not valued, and tried to gather more support from other Revs/press the issue further
  • At that point in time, the Rev population was more or less at capacity (that would be around 36, maybe with some reserves and alternate staff working at base)
  • The most vocal Revs met with "accidents" due to poor communications about danger, and they were clearly set up for it
  • In this manner they either shut up or got picked off, or retired of their own volition
  • This put a lot of stress on Reon who knew that they were on the "good" side and was frustrated at their views not being heard, plus a lot of hurt and anguish at the loss of their friends
  • For once in their life they stood up for what they believed was right, even as the other Revs around them dropped support for the idea
  • They met with an accident.
  • Left for dead on the fringes, bleeding out soul energy, they were reported as having been killed in action...and Reon shouldn't have survived, if not for them being so terribly afraid of not existing
  • They still had a bunch of resources on them and managed to fight some things that came for them, even though they were losing energy fast...and then ate them, in desperation
  • In this way Reon survived, and then gained the ability to stand up and walk, but also cursed to feed off the things on the edges to continue living
  • They lived like this quietly for many years, rebuilding strength, trying to stabilise, and thinking about their existence, and came to the conclusion that they could either live this miserable existence indefinitely, or go out in a blaze of glory, and they picked the latter
  • So begins Reon's revenge. The coward's counterattack, or the bump of chicken, if you will
  • In a sense they're still a coward, forcing themselves to want a reason to exist because they're more afraid to not exist, and then trying to commit to that reason. They've never felt like they mattered, and they want to feel like they matter by doing something that would keep their name living forever.

Trivia

  • NB woman, and chill about gender.

Not really trivia but thinking about their motivations:

  • There's nothing really they can do without like...hurting regular innocent people...so I'm still thinking about that. What they supposedly want is to change the system so that people don't suffer from the side effects of the funnel existing...but they have to destroy their reliance on the funnel, which would require them to have an alternate energy source, and if they don't (which is the case currently) people will die from lack of access to electricity
  • I guess maybe they feel it's a necessary evil to destroy and rebuild. Perhaps it's more likely to force their hand if something that costs money can no longer function, and if an alternative energy generator could be deployed efficiently if they would just put effort into making it.
  • To that end they're willing to sacrifice some people, and especially the Revs, who exist within a predatory system that forces people to sign on and stay on in massively unfair conditions or disappear, and allow the system to continue
  • There's some level of obsession/desperation in this. They don't want to die (again), or at least now it's fuelled by the idea that they're the only person who's able to reform the entire system - with the destruction of their crew, there's no one else to fight alongside them, and if they die now, who knows when the next revolution can begin?
  • So the only course of action available to them now is to completely destroy the system and tech so that it can never be used again, and that will hopefully force people to rebuild in a different way
