Skeletons

Revenant skeletons are metal replicas of human skeletons, embedded with electromagnetic conductors, and created for the purpose of housing souls.

Description

Revenant skeletons are comprised of a light but strong metal, usually black or silver in colour, with colourless seams running along the "bones". Soul energy conducts along these seams, such that a soul housed in the skeleton is able to keep itself protectively suspended within, and construct a body from a supply of nanites.

An active Revenant skeleton is able to hold itself upright. The seams glow with the colour of the soul, but in such a way that no light is given off - the light is visible in darkness, but does not illuminate the surroundings, just like the soul itself.

Revenant skeletons are made in a number of varying heights and sizes, with some leeway for minor customisation (e.g. shaping of facial structure) in the newer models. Older models have fewer size variations. As the number of Revs being hired does not tend to be extremely high, these are custom moulded on demand, with intact skeletons from retired Revs being recycled whole for new recruits (or if the model is too old, scrapped for parts). Typically, some extra stock is kept on hand and the choice is presented to the new Rev.

Revenant skeletons differ from human skeletons in a few ways:

1. The tail bones are shaped like reptile/dinosaur bones, with the intent of holding a larger volume of nanites.
2. One or two horns are present on the forehead area. These are never covered with nanites, and largely function as antennae for communication.
3. Rev skeletons may come in black, presenting as black teeth, claws and horns on the Rev.

These features identify Revs to the general public.
