I randomly made up her age and have no idea if this makes any sense chronologically, so check later on:

• Currently I'm thinking Reon served and was lost before the Professor became head scientist
• This means Synth also should only have been recruited some time after that incident (no connection, probably span of some years)
• So, Reon's age should include a lot more Rev years than Synth's
• And due to the nature of Synth's wish, the Professor didn't become head scientist until a while after Synth was recruited
• Synth's age (lifetime + Rev years combined) should match the Professor's

Description

Synth is a vaguely bird/dragon-like Revenant. Most of the time, she seems to be scowling and/or looking intensely at people, but this is her resting face. She's quite tall, at about 170cm, but in Rev terms this is not especially tall. She has short hair and is housed in a two-horned skeleton. Her soul colour is a bright yellow. Synth's initial weapon was some sort of firearm, but she has since changed it to a two-handed sword for her bodyguarding duties (easier to put herself between a potential threat and the Professor).

She has a stoic personality, rarely emoting when speaking to people she's not familiar with, and is good at staying professional. Around people she's close to, she shows more emotion, though this is largely confined to being annoyed and/or comically angry. She doesn't feel particularly strongly about her job, if only because she doesn't remember enough to feel much about it. She's not very socially adept, just like she was in life, but does often help people when she can, most usually the quiet ones.

Her main goals in life are gone, and she doesn't know what her wish was in specific terms, so she doesn't have any particular purpose in existing. Currently, she's searching - though at this point, it's probably that she wants to protect the Professor, after (re)gaining respect and friendship (or more...) with her.

Though she's assigned to Accipiter, she doesn't actively serve on the team, partly because the rest of the team simply does not exist. Instead, she acts as the Professor's bodyguard - or to be a little more specific, the Professor's escort when she heads above ground, beyond the safe zone of the funnel. She does not have clearance to know what the Professor knows, but she's sharp and often can infer things the Professor doesn't say.

In Life

• The childhood/best friend of the Professor
• She herself wasn't good at making friends, but the young Professor saw that Synth appeared fearless (Synth was just not good at emoting, though she definitely was hard to shake), and latched onto her
• They became good friends, with Synth providing company and a listening ear despite not being able to see what the Professor saw, and the Professor helping Synth socially/being one of Synth's few close friends
• Eventually they started dating, sometime when the Professor happened to get into the competitive field of ambient electromagnetic research
• The Professor eventually got hired at the facility, and so they met each other less often, though Synth knew it was a good thing for her (the Professor became significantly more healthy-looking after moving into the facility)
• Incidentally, due to secrecy, Synth did not specifically know about the Professor's job
• Synth got killed in an accident

As a Revenant

• Truthfully, Synth had her entire memory intact when she was recruited
• However, her circumstances made it such that part of her memory had to be wiped (as Revs are not supposed to maintain any old bonds with people they knew in life, and her girlfriend was working at the facility)
• They did, however, allow her to choose her wish before wiping her memory, and she chose very specifically, that the Professor's success and safety be ensured
• She didn't wish for herself, as her greatest wishes could at this point no longer be granted (involved job success, marrying her girlfriend and settling down)
• So they granted that, but she would never know for sure if her wish would be granted; the only thing she would retain was a feeling that she had to protect someone, but not knowing who
• This had a few effects: the Professor was promoted and put on a fast track for ascending the ranks (this hit her really hard, as she was in mourning), and perhaps ironically - Synth was offered to the Professor as a bodyguard (under some random made-up pretext - possibly that the Prof was not in good mental condition and required protection), which the Professor (very angrily) refused, and so she was tentatively placed in Accipiter as a normal Rev
• The Professor, at this time, did not have any idea who Synth was (she was still too low-ranked to have access to that information), and both of them just somehow extremely hated each other - part of it being that the Professor saw familiarity in Synth, and Synth...just didn't like the attitude she was getting from the Professor.
• Note that there was some time in between Synth's death and the Professor meeting Synth (the Rev) for the first time, perhaps obfuscated intentionally, so that the Professor would not suspect Synth's identity
• She did, in fact, get part of the way there - but she probably inferred that Synth's memory had been damaged when they found her, and felt conflicted about whether she should treat Synth as a stranger now
• It wouldn't be until quite a lot later, when the Professor got promoted to head scientist and obtained clearance to view Revenant records, that she found out about everything (including Synth's wish, which cemented her decision to treat her as the same person)
• That may have been after the other 2 members of Accipiter were killed, leaving Synth as the sole survivor
• The Professor appointed Synth as her bodyguard. There were a lot of conflicting feelings on both sides, what with the Professor's lingering feelings, and Synth...being Synth...but the Professor was quite adamant about keeping Synth out of harm's way
• So, this was somewhat equivalent to being put in a get along shirt, and they did finally get along, but it took a long time, and a lot of guesswork on Synth's part as to why things changed
• Currently they are in a not entirely happy place (as there is no happy place), but a decent one, and are very close
